Goodbye Digital Ocean, Hello Vercel: My Blog’s Fresh Start

September 30, 2024

Today, I officially moved this blog from Digital Ocean to Vercel!

To be honest, I don’t blog much—when I do, it’s mostly about travel, front-end programming, design, or the macOS and Debian operating systems.

My old blog used WordPress, hosted on Digital Ocean with the LEMP stack. I was paying a small fee for it, but after over 8 years, I’ve finally made the switch to Vercel. The main reason? It’s free, and I can still use my custom domain!

The new blog uses this template, and the deployment process was super quick—just about 10 minutes to configure and set everything up. I did, however, run into some hiccups transferring my domain from GoDaddy to Vercel, which ended up taking about 12 hours due to issues with Let’s Encrypt. Fingers crossed, it’s all sorted now!

I love using markdown to write blogs and deploying directly from GitHub, so I’m hoping I’ll be more consistent with blogging from now on.
